A brief Introduction to Myself
Hello, I’m Patrick Giles, a professional engineer with almost four decades of experience in engineering, having begun my career in 1987. Throughout my career I have worked across a wide range of industries and engineering disciplines, developing a broad technical knowledge while specialising in electronics engineering.
My experience extends beyond electronics design and development to include systems engineering, technical support, operations, mechanical engineering, embedded software and firmware development, product testing, manufacturing support, and project engineering. This multidisciplinary background has enabled me to contribute to projects from initial concept and design through to manufacture, verification, and customer support.
Over the years I have worked with companies ranging from small technology businesses to large international organisations, delivering innovative engineering solutions, solving complex technical problems, and supporting the development of high-quality products.

My spare time activities
Engineering has always been more than just a career for me—it’s also my hobby. In my spare time I enjoy designing, building, and experimenting with a wide range of electronics and engineering projects. My interests span both electronic and mechanical engineering, from creating precision 3D models and mechanical assemblies in Fusion 360 to designing electronic circuits and developing embedded systems.
I regularly work with microcontrollers using Microchip Studio, developing firmware for Microchip AVR devices, while also creating projects based on Arduino and Raspberry Pi platforms. Alongside embedded development, I enjoy programming in Python using the IDLE development environment to create utilities, automate tasks, and explore new technologies.
Beyond electronics, I enjoy every stage of the engineering process, from initial concept and design through to prototyping, testing, troubleshooting, and refinement. Whether designing printed circuit boards, producing mechanical components for 3D printing or machining, or integrating complete electromechanical systems, I enjoy finding practical and innovative solutions to engineering challenges.
I am naturally curious and continually seek opportunities to expand my knowledge by learning new technologies, software tools, and engineering techniques. For me, engineering is far more than a profession—it’s a lifelong passion that allows me to continually create, innovate, and develop new ideas.
